Bakuman is a manga by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, the creators of Death Note. The manga was adapted in anime, which started in 2010.
Summary of the manga Bakuman:
Mashiro has been in love with Azuki for a quite a while, and she happens to love him since long too. When Mashiro’s classmate Takagi asks him to become a manga artist with him as a duo, Mashiro promises Azuki he is going to become a professional manga writer and have its own anime. Azuki pledge that she will become a professional dubber so she can can be one of the characters of their anime. So they can fulfill their respective dreams and then marry each other. From here, Mashiro and Takagi will not rest until they write the best manga ever.

My opinion on the manga Bakuman:
Bakuman is not that much of a “watch me”, than a “read me” manga. Half of all pages are filled with text. You will learn all about manga artists and editors mechanisms, an explanation made alive by the two main characters. The explanations might be a little “too much” sometimes ans frankly you can wonder why it is a manga instead of a book in the first place. I might just be that the manga makes the story less boring, but still, we can ask ourselves why. I heard a lot bad reviews about the girls place in this manga (dumb and backstaged). I think it is a cultural thing, and even though I do not like it either, it probably comes off as natural for a success author to depict women as such. Despite this, Bakuman stays an interesting manga which is going to teach you a lot. I have been a bit disappointed by the end, which comes kind of quickly, but it will be yours to judge.
